Privacy Policy

The short version

The backtest files and trade data you load into the analyzer are processed entirely in your browser; they are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. The only things we collect are what's needed to run accounts and understand traffic: your account email, anonymous usage analytics, and advertising-measurement signals on our marketing pages and public sample-data demo.

This policy explains what information tradechef.io ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the tradechef.io website and the tradechef.io analyzer application.

Your backtest data stays on your device

tradechef.io is built so that the trading data you analyze never leaves your machine. When you load a TradingView Strategy Tester export (or any supported file), it is read with your browser's File API and parsed, computed, and rendered locally on your device. Analyses you save are stored in your browser's own IndexedDB storage, which stays on your computer and which you can clear at any time through your browser settings. We do not receive, see, or retain this data.

Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account or log in, our authentication provider, WorkOS, processes your email address and the credentials you use to sign in, and we store a session cookie so you stay logged in. We use this to identify your account and keep your saved analyses private to you.

Usage analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service, to understand aggregate traffic: total page views, referring sites, country, and device type. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not build individual profiles or track you across other sites.

Advertising measurement

On our public marketing pages (such as the home page), we use the Reddit Pixel and the Google Ads tag to measure whether our advertising is working. The Reddit Pixel also runs in the public sample-data demo to measure visits, rule interactions and clicks to sign up. These demo events do not include rule values, plan names or trade data. The tags may set cookies and send page URLs, browser identifiers, referrer data and conversion events to Reddit or Google. Neither advertising tag runs in the signed-in analyzer, where you analyze your own backtests.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum: an essential session cookie for keeping you logged in, cookies that the Reddit Pixel and Google Ads tag may set on our marketing pages, and Reddit advertising cookies in the public sample-data demo. We do not use cookies inside the signed-in analyzer for tracking.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate tradechef.io. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

WorkOS: account authentication and login.
Cloudflare: website hosting, privacy-first analytics, and email routing for messages you send us.
Reddit and Google: advertising-conversion measurement on our marketing pages; Reddit also measures visits and interactions in the public sample-data demo.

How we use information

To create and secure your account and keep your saved analyses private to you.
To operate, maintain, and improve the website and app.
To understand aggregate traffic and measure whether our advertising is effective.
To respond to messages you send us.

Data retention

We keep your account email for as long as your account is active, and delete it on request. Usage analytics are aggregate and not tied to your identity. The backtest data and saved analyses on your device are under your control; you can clear them from your browser at any time.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information associated with your account by emailing hello@tradechef.io. You can opt out of advertising cookies through your browser settings and your Reddit account preferences. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or the CCPA (California); contact us to exercise them.

International users

tradechef.io is served through Cloudflare's global network, and the limited information we collect may be processed in the United States and other countries. We rely on our providers' safeguards for any such transfers.

Children

tradechef.io is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected here.
